I was keeping score last night when we shot this stage, I was really sirprised how many people shot the first string (turn and draw) faster then facing down range on the draw.

How could this be?

George

I shoot it today and saw the same thing as I kept score.

It wasn't just a couple of shooters it was a lot of them.

What in the world is up with that?

You are right they should be the same; I really never tought about that.

So is everyone amped on the fisrt string and being conservative on the second string?

Now I don't think times tell the whole story; it could be the points involved on a case by case basis.

My times were about the same,,,,SLOW. The HHF in open is crasy. Maybe it would have not been so bad if the temp was above 40.

Damn, Jon -- I opened the results from SWGC again, and you weren't THAT slow!! Were you on the squad with Todd Jarrett? I wonder what his splits were....

I wasn't paying much attention to anyone else, but I did notice one guy shoot both strings in the same amount of time, and everyone started the same way -- uprange, hands raised. I wonder if some folks "went for it" on the first string, saw they dropped some points, then shot the second string more carefully?

Jake -- even if the draw time can be done while turning, can you turn and get a hit as fast as you can draw and get a hit? I'm not arguing, just curious. :)

Boo,

The vast majority of the time I can....the only time I can't is when there is like a 3 or 5 yard target, and then I just can't turn fast enough without messing up the quality of my draw.

In the quest for the sub-3 el prez, a .8 turning draw is required.

In point of fact though, when I shot this, my turning draw was 1.1 ish and my facing draw like in the low .8s.

We shot this one today, and it will count as my first classifer as I just joined and started shooting USPSA.

Limited

7.46

48 points

6.4343 HF

60.16% (at our match)

I lost at least a half a second on the first string trying to decide where to start, left or right...

Oh well.

I actually liked this classifer. According to the Ohio calculator this would be a C class shoot for me and thats where I would like to be lol.

Only 7 shooters in L10.

I shot this one a couple of weeks back with a revolver.

My total time was 6.25 and had 56 points.

My first string I started facing up range with hand up my time was 3.34.

My second string was facing down range hands relaxed and my time was 2.91.

It was a little local match but we had 28 shooters that night, the only person that beat me was a guy shooting a open gun.

According to the calulator it was 74.4469.

Shot this one today for the second time. First time was about 2 yrs ago and came it at about 59%. Today I shot it in 5.45ish with 54pts (Production Div). I don't recall exact times but the HF worked out to 9.9115. Checked the calculator and it shows it will be around 78%. My first ever A class classifier. Also my first ever stage win. Like I said earlier, I don't remember the exact times, but my hands at surrender turn and draw was a bit quicker than my second run. Think I was pushing it a little more as I have been working on the turn quite a bit in my dryfire.

All in all, a good day for me.

Shot this again this morning with Ridge Runners Gun Club in Breckenridge, TX.

Shooting Production.

8 Alphas

4 Charlies

6.28 seconds + 7.30 seconds = 13.58 seconds.

52 points / 13.58 seconds = 3.8292 HF.

30.1415% according to classifiercalc.com.

30.135804% according to cmcalc.com.

Eh, shoulda been better, coulda been worse.
