Here is a rundown one of the local matches:

1. Speed shoot - 8 rounds

2. Classifier - 12 rounds

3. Field course - 22 rounds

4. Field course - 32 rounds

5. Field course - 32 rounds

Total - 106 (shooting clean)

A long while back we determined that around and a little over 100 rounds for a 4-5 stage match was optimum, especially for the shooters that don't reload-- they bring 4 boxes and leave with some ammo, or bring 3 and barely make it.

Same pattern here in Indiana . . . must be a Midwestern thing.

Leon County Gun Club, Buffalo TX. Usually at our little club we run about 90-100 rounds matches. 2 long, a medium and a classifier. Sometimes we combine one long and the classifier (after we shoot it, modified a little) into a fifth stage for another field course which puts us well over 100 rounds total. Many times we set up the last stage with input from anyone who cares to put forth suggestions as to what and how to set it up. Seems to be pretty well recieved by the shooters. We generally start shooting at 10 and are torn down and gone well before 2 in the afternoon.

Our local outdoor monthly matches (4) tend to average 6 stages each, with one club running 7 stages about 50% of the time. Round counts are ~150.

Most have a good mix of shooting challenges including classifiers, Short, Medium and Long courses, and at one club in particular some sort of Standards course with longish (~35-40 yard) shots (I like this :) ).
