Does anyone still use Leather holsters and pouches? I was wondering what the next step up from the U.M. Double pouches was? That is production and single stack legal.

I know a couple of shooters who still use leather. They tend to win in L-10 or Single stack shooting .45's out of em.

Get a Mitch Rosen holster and mag pouches. Same price as a speed rig. It's like having the snap of a Bladetech, only in leather. No hang-up what so ever!

As long as we're recommending manufacturers, I have to put my vote in for Milt Sparks Leather (click here). It's premium leather, worked by what I can only describe as master craftsmen. In fact, each holster is stamped with the initials of the guy who made it (who signs their work any more?).

I used their 55BN at many matches. I think I was the only shooter at the 2002 GA State match using leather in any division, and this was it. For daily carry I highly recommend their Executives Companion holster. It's wider at the bottom than the top and spreads the pressure exerted on your hip over a larger area, resulting a very comfortable holster.

Lead times when ordering directly from their shop can run as much as 10-11 weeks, but they have a good network of stocking dealers. My preference is Lightning Arms. They are a smallish Mom-and-Pop outfit, and great people to deal with. You pay a little more than at MS, but they usually have what you want in stock, right now.
