1911user Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 (edited) I had the chance to shoot a 3rd gen G32 (357 sig) this weekend and was nicely surprised. It shot accurately, had a nice trigger pull, and pointed very well; a nice combo. I've shot an older G17 and G22 in the past and they pointed high. A 1911 with a flat MSH points very well for me. Do the compact frames normally point different than the full size frames? Did the grip angles change between frame generations? This has me thinking about a G19 and I'd never considered buying a glock before. One possibility is the curve on the backstrap is higher up than the full size frames and that's what makes it fit and point well. The trigger pull was nice. The original owner said that it only had a 3.5 connector and an extended slide release as non-stock parts. The pistol had been purchased as a LEO "blue label" model if that means anything. I hadn't thought about shooting in production class, but it's hard to ignore the ease of quick hits with the G32. I'd probably go for a G19 (9mm) if I buy one. EDIT: Can a G37 (45 gap) mag use a +2 mag extension? Edited March 16, 2006 by 1911user
eric nielsen Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 (edited) I noticed the compact frames point a little different too, probably because the heel of my hand doesn't push the bottom of the compact guns as much. The grip angle is identical for all the Glocks but people's hands go on them different, especially the compact 10mm and the singlestack 45 models. You can make them point even lower by taking material off the bottom of the triggerguard but that makes it illegal for Production, no problem for Limited or Open. I've got an STI now that points UP almost as high as a Glock and that's really nice too. Only one like it that I've seen. Not sure if there's a good Minor load for 357 sig, certainly wouldn't be as cheap as 9mm white box ammo so as you say it might be good to look for a G19. Edited March 16, 2006 by eric nielsen
David Thomas Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 There may not be a grip angle difference, but the hump in the backstrap does seem higher on the G19 and other similar sized models than the hump on the full sized GLOCKs. The hump on the G26 and similar versions seems even higher than that of the G19.

Exactly.
1911user Posted March 21, 2006 Author Posted March 21, 2006 (edited) Update: A buddy loaned me his G37 (45 gap in a G17/22 size frame) that was for sale. It seemed to handle as well as the G32 and the price was right. I bought it with 5 mags and some reloading components. Maybe my grip has changed or something, but this points well for me also. A G19 will have to wait. With +2 mag extensions, I should be able to put 10 rounds in a mag and still have room to seat them with a closed slide. It should be a decent combination for L-10 major. Kevin Kline Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I dont think the grip angle is different, but I think the shorter grip makes it point a little different for some because it doesnt have the full grip and humps and curves in it like the full size models. When I shot 1911's, I also noticed I pointed the compact and subcompacts better than the full size models. BTW, G32 is a great choice. G32 w/ Surefire X200 is my house gun. I feel very well protected. The .357 Glock rock, not much recoil or flip, but you can tell the recoil is straight back at you and not in the flip. It feels like a 38 super almost.
