Merlin Orr Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 All 126 mm mags - SV mag work great - STI mags bind and hang badly. Whats up with this? Tried moving the release button back and forth and wiggling and etc. REALLY hard to get it to release - actually feel like the STI mags do not release at all but I can pull them manually with very little pressure.
Jon Merricks Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Measure them front to back and side to side to see how far off from your SV's.

With the STI tubes it is normally the front to back dimsension that is off (to long), after you measure, go to a vise, pad the jaws (leather or wood) and "squish" them bad boys into shape.
GeneralChang Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Another possibility is that your grip may be out of spec. I had two frames with consecutive serial numbers that were undersized inside. The mag release also protruded a bit which was also binding on the mags. HTH

Just keep squishing it. I broke my little vise before I got it to where I wanted. After I move I'm buying a GIANT vise to handle these little variations. PS---Don't use too big a hammer.
