BSeevers Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 http://www.daytoncitypaper.com/modules.php...order=0&thold=0 This is a local newspaper article in Dayton OH this week. This paper is the local "alternative" paper and is generally liberal and biased toward guns. I think even though she got a few facts incorrect it has a positive feel about competition shooting. It was satisfying showing someone, that had probably almost all negative feelings about shooting and guns, that we are regular people with jobs and families. Getting her to shoot a handgun for the first time in her life was also probably a wake up call as to how fun shooting really is. Great job by the Sim-Trainer crew in promoting the sport and our rights.
AikiDale Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Wonderful! More coverage like that would go a long way towards improving our image as sport shooters. Can we get a congressman to sponsor a National Take a Reporter to the Range Day?
davidball Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Not bad. Given the reputation of the paper, the reporter, and journalists in general, I'd say that the article was a "win".
ima45dv8 Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Overall, it reads like a very positive perspective. A pleasant surprise.
j2fast Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Not bad at all, as other have already said it would be nice to see more of these stories.
Bigbadaboom Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Nice surprise. Very good for our sport. I want one of those .50 cal. assault rifles she referred to. Where can I find one?
3quartertime Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Is that a picture of the author at the top of the page? She looks hot! Imagine that, Uncle Bill teaching a hottie how to shoot. I guess you get a pimp gun and the rest just falls in line!!!
Skywalker Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 “Three alpha, one beta…” Bill Seevers, a pharmaceutical company representative by day, explains that alpha is the centermost part of the target, while beta lies outside of that and “Charlie” is even further from the center. Bill, what's up with good ole Bravo????
Hey QuicksDraw! Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 A good read. Well balanced with plenty of referals for people who want more information. Two thumbs up!
dirtypool40 Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 We had a situation come up a few years back where there was a CCW shooting in our area and the local "Lib Rag", the Orlando Slantinel wanted a "who carries" story. By random drawing they called the local gunshopwe all used (EOSS) and asked to be put in touch with CWP holders. The owner kept his wits and called every professional, educated, well spoken non-Mall Ninja, Redneck he knew of and briefed them as to what he thought the paper was doing. He got Doctors, teachers, lawyers, and local competition shooters in the article, and they did a good job of giving the reporter the good side of things and avoiding the land mines he threw down. The article was like most, badly mis-quoted, but did come out as at least even for us.

Bill, what's up with good ole Bravo???? Just one of the mis-quotes. I was saying Bravo of course but she did have the deer in the headlight look. 3QT No that wasn't her or I would have offered to add her to my stable. Extra, private lessons ya know
Skywalker Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Just one of the mis-quotes. I was saying Bravo of course but she did have the deer in the headlight look. Have learning the Nato Alphabet mandatory from junior school could probably help...
Chris Keen Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I was on the phone with a local phone co. / DSL tech-support guru the other night, and and when he read the work order number to me at the end of the call, he pretty much nailed it when he read all the Letters as correct as we learned in the Army (Alpha, Wiskey, November, Mike, etc.) Initially I wanted to buy a slurpie & some incense from him, but at that point I was dumbfounded.
