Chuck D Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I finally settled on a school and a program...only took 11 months to make up my mind. Master of Science Degree... Criminal Justice. Boston University. Employer is picking up 1/2 the tab.
NewRacer Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Much respect to you for continuing your education! Good Choices as well!
straightshooter1 Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Congratulations on choosing to go forward with your education. I got my Masters (Urban Police Administration) while I was still a police officer. Then I went on to Law School and am getting close to retirement as a prosecutor here in sunny Florida. Rarely does a month go by that I don't use something I got from grad school, even nearly thirty years later. Good Luck! Bob
ChuckS Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Ah, grad school: the last bastion of legalized slavery in the US. Shop around for a good advisor. Some of them may not be the nicest people to work for. Congrats on the choice and on the funding! From what I hear, BU is a pretty good skool
kimel Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 +1 on what ChuckS said. It took me a full 6 months to decompress after completing my Master's after almost 2 full years of 18 hour days. Ask any potential advisors for contact info of their current students and recent grads. If they refuse to give it; run away. Also talk to the dept about the time to completion of various advisor's students. Unless of course you enjoy scut work and holding your nose in a prof's backside for a couple years.
