Big Bore Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 I will be needing a comp for my DPMS LR-308 18" soon. Any suggestions? It needs to meet the 1x3 inch rule and work on a barrel with a diameter of .936. Thanks
Larry White Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Benny Hill was making some of the 308 version of his rolling thunder comp about 30 min ago. Call him 361-241-1091.-------Larry
TRUBL Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Now, DPMS makes a very fine comp for the 308 as well as other stuff for your 308.......however, unless they made a change to it recently, I believe that the 308 comp they are offering is 1.25" Dia. This would put you into open class for USPSA and the RM3G match I believe. I am running a JP Tactical Comp on my DPMS LAR308 and I have no complaints what so ever. IF you order one from John, make sure you tell them it is for a 308 and that you want it to be neutral......no thrust port. Tim
smokshwn Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Get a hold of Alex Wakal. "Wakal" on the board. When I last talked to him he was working on a version of his F2 comp for the 308. It is a very good comp on a 223 and I would assume that they will do good work with the 308 model. Craig
Big Bore Posted March 4, 2006 Author Posted March 4, 2006 I need to stay out of the open class so it has meet the 1"x3" for heavy metal so the one DPMS carries is out. Dreadnaught industries is telling me that they should have something out in the spring, I hope.

Craig The F2 comp that Alex was helping to market was designed and is being produced by Fred Hindman. The F2 is for the 223 and is available in right and left hand models. The 308 model (tentatively called the F4 "Proof that with a big enough motor, a brick will fly") drawings are completed and the prototype is in development. Production is expected a little later in the year. If you want to contact Fred, PM me or Alex and we can give you his phone number. Bill
Wakal Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Word. Fred and CD just finished a 6.8 1" by 3" prototype on the F2 pattern, and are tweaking it now. I expect the F4 to follow...but not until after the Texas State 3-Gun in May. Speaking of that...Bill, quit playing on in the internet and get that match built! Alex
Liota Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 (edited) I was going to chime in here about the development of the .308 variant on the F2, but Bill and Alex beat me to it. Alex, Bill doesn't want to work on the match. It's too hot outside in Texas right now. Heck, come to think of it, it's kind of warm here, too. 52 degrees. Yuck! For all of you who were going to make comments like, "Just like a woman, never satisfied." yeah, whatever. Liota Edited March 4, 2006 by Liota

Fred, Cary, and I took the 6.8 out to the range last week and did the final torque vent tweeking. It wound up WAY more effective than the AR10 you guys were fooling with... We have the walls up for 3 of the stages... next week we're going to try to get the train and rails from Coleman and get it set up. That will take some alterations! Alex, are you and Liota taking leave to be here for the 3 Gun? Bill
Liota Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Bill, PM in your inbox. What is Fred planning on calling this new comp? Will you guys send me one so I can put it on the website? L
GBTX01 Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 My AR10 16" carbine upper that is being built right now will have a Badger Ordnance brake on it and meets the requirements. GA Precision is doing the build and this was his recomendation. I should know how will it shoots in about 5 weeks. http://www.badgerordnance.com/productgroup...id=accessories#
