Chills1994 Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 I had some problems with the last batch of ammo I made up. For the regulars here, you might recall my thread about ES's, SD's and temperature while using VV N340. I haven't made another batch yet. I had some leftover loaded up rounds, so I pulled the bullets. These pulled 200 gr LSWC's have a slight impression and shiney ring where the case was crimped into the bullet. Should I try using these bullets again? Or should I just toss into one of several paint cans of lead I've scrounged up? And is there a less frustrating kinetic bullet puller design out there? Dang 3 piece collet, well....stayed 3 pieces...one on the floor , one on the bench, and maybe one on the puller itself. Black rubber band went flying off somewhere. At least I got some of my frustrations out beating on that wood block. Danke, Chills
Front Man Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 If they are really over crimped I 'd melt them back down. Or like Alamo said shoot them up in practice. FM
Larry White Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Take a can of that lead and cast yourself a lead chunk about the size of a brick. Use that to hit with the bullet puller.-----Larry
Chills1994 Posted March 3, 2006 Author Posted March 3, 2006 Wood block worked fine. It was a "scrap" from a finish stair job, newel post. 3.5" X 3.5" X 24" chunk of hard maple to pound that puller on. Barely dented the engrain of the block. I've had this Midway puller for 10 + years. Methinks there's gotta be a better mousetrap out there, for kinetic pullers anyway. Up til now it hadn't seen much use. At least I got to save the powder and put it back in it's proper container. Sounds like I've got some boolitts ready to be turned into practice ammo. Doh! Thanks for the replies....you folks are alright! Chills
