Karl @ GT Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 Hello, A very good friend of our family that lives in San Diego has recently lost her husband to Alzheimers. Her husband was a long time shooter self taught gunsmith and had a inventory of rifles, pistols, optics & shooting goods when he died. I would like to find a BE forum member that could help this lady with information and values on what she has so that she can try to start selling some of the items. Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated. I can be contacted at sales@gttargets.com or on this thread. thanks, Karl @ GT Targets

MikeFoley Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 I should preface by saying that after leaving the corporate scene, I am working with Antique & Modern Firearms, a 32 year upscale gun store. We buy entire collections, and also consign collections. The biggest obstacle is the distance, but I would be happy to help if I can. We usually appraise the items at what we think they will bring in the store, then subtract a predetermined percentage. It is not uncommon for someone to ship us the items from out of state. I would guess there is a similar dealer in your area with a great reputation who can be trusted with this task. Sure they will make a profit, but the seller gets more than they would from an uneducated dealer.
