Patrick Sweeney Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Man-o-man I mis-judged this one. I was expecting another martial arts kickfest, and what I got was a suspense movie with lots of martial arts in it. Jet Li is a simple man: when the collar comes off, his job is to kick the livin' s**t out of anyone on the other side. His boss/owner is Bob Hoskins, a loan shark and nobody plays evil like Bob Hoskins. What I loved about it was that the martial arts action fit the psychology of your basic pit bull/attack dog: once Jet Li had picked a target he homed in until he either destroyed them or was distracted by someone else as a threat. And the best part: given the right material, Jet Li can act!
