mcb Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 A friend game me about 600 of these bullets and I have some Titegroup left over (switched to VV N-320 for my 180gr major loads) I would like to use these bullet and powder together for some practice/plinking ammo. If you have some good data using this combination I would love to see it. Thanks mcb
dirtypool40 Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 No idea on the 135's but the 180's like 4.75gr of TG. I'd start around 5.1, but that's just a guess.
mcb Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006 No idea on the 135's but the 180's like 4.75gr of TG. I'd start around 5.1, but that's just a guess. I was making major with 4.5 grains of tight group and Berry's 180 RS out of my XD-40 Tactical. I like the N320 a little better as it seems cleaner and fills the case more. I don't necessarily want to try for Major with the 135 grain bullets just looking for a load with enough umph to reliably cycle the old XD-40 Tactical. Hodgdon's web site list 6.4 grain at 1251fps, PF 168.9. I was hoping someone might have some actual load data with accompanying chrono data so I could back off that really fast load a bit. I searched all around and have not found much data with velocities. Thanks mcb
ChuckS Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Hodgdon says 6.4 gr max for a Nosler 135 gr JHP. DP's numbers are probably a good starting point. TITEGROUP 6.4gr 1251fps 33,200 PSI 135 GR. NOS JHP COL: 1.125" Link to Hodgdon's load data Later, Chuck
BigDave Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 You should be able to drop the 135 right on top of whatever your Major powder charge was. It should make a really soft minor load ~1000 fps. Great for steel. But, TG can be a bit erratic with the light bullets in terms of velocity (read: a few weird low fps #'s will show on the chrono from time to time). I love 135's for minor in 40. But, Clays or 700X work better IME.
