p3ordie Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I am getting ready to shoot my FIRST multi-gun match next month. I currently have a Remington 1100, 21" barrel, extended magazine, side saddle, FO front sight, no rear sight. I am concerned about shooting slugs with no rear sight, how many shoot slugs without a rear sight? Thanks, Mark
Singlestack Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I don't use one. If I were to put one on my shotgun, it would have to be a flip-up type. Anything else is going to be in the way 99% of the time.
p3ordie Posted February 25, 2006 Author Posted February 25, 2006 Singlestack, Do you feel you are pretty accurate with slugs w/o the rear sight? I'm thinking if I'm shooting at 30~50yd targets I'll be missing quite often. The match is in about 3 weeks, there's no time left to get it installed by then, I guess I'll see how I do without it.
mike.45 Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Mark, I shoot an SX2 / Gold witrh a rib and bead and this works great up to 50m - past that I would say consider a flip up rear sight - go shoot your gun and see where it hits with rib and bead and go with that.

Accurate enough to hit a IPSC target @ 50 yrds as long as I remember to shoot it like a rifle and aim instead of just pointing it like a shotgun.
p3ordie Posted February 25, 2006 Author Posted February 25, 2006 Thanks! Seeing how it's my 1st multi-gun I'll call it a good day if I come home with no DQ
smokshwn Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 +1 on Mike's post. I have found that with a rib and FO front site I can easily get hits to 50 yds. However as the yardage increases so does the "need" for a good rear reference point.
