carinab Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 (edited) My daughter is just old enough now to join/enjoy some of the events organized by the local Swedish womens' club (SWEA International). She was a lucia tärna (as was mom) in December - her first Santa Lucia. As if that wasn't special on it's own, to my heart's delight, she now wants to sing with the children's choir (mom is proud, can you tell?). So in a couple of month's from now at the Valborg celebration (basically a giant bonfire to welcome spring), she'll be singing (along with the other kids obviously) one of my favorite swedish folk songs - Uti vår hage. I'm guessing the kids won't sound quite as professional as the choir in the link, but what they lack in skill I'm sure they'll make up for in charm and sweetness. The title of the song translates to "out in our meadow." It's a beautiful song about the arrival of flowers and love. The link is missing one verse: Uti vår hage finns blommor och bär. Kom hjärtans fröjd! Men utav alla du kärast mig är. Out in our meadow are flowers and berries. Come my heart's delight! But of all, you're my most beloved. Edited February 25, 2006 by carinab
