revchuck Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Folks - Supposedly, these are the same powder. Does anyone have data for them? Ramshot doesn't list it in their Silhouette data, and I don't have any Winchester data that old. Thanks!
DougCarden Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Chuck, looking at the Win 14th edition load manual it doesnt list WAP/Silhouette for 38 special or .357, just 38 super, 9x23, 9x19, .40/10mm, .45acp. I cannot for the life of me right now find my Ramshot manual. If I do I will let you know, you might go to their website, www.westernpowders.com and see if it is there. Good luck, DougC

That's the reason for my pleading here.
gm iprod Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 revchuck, When WAP first came out I asked the guys at Winchester if it was suitable for 38Special with a light bullet going fast (or 357Mag) for that matter. The said that it was more designed for anything semi Auto 9mm, 38Super, 40S&W etc etc. Because it burns so hot with a large amount of gas it is not really suitable to something with a cylinder gap. They said they would expect a lot of gas cutting on the top strap and a fair amount of unburnt powder residue. If Silhouette is similar / same powder, then same problem. I also checked two older WInchester manuals that cover the period that WAP was available and there are no listings for 38SPl or 357Mag.
revchuck Posted February 22, 2006 Author Posted February 22, 2006 gm iprod - Well, humbug! I guess I'll just have to keep it for 9x19 and .40 S&W. Thanks, mate!
