Efk Bushing Comp For My Limited Gun

I normally shoot USPSA, but I started with the local outlaw matches.

Now we have a new combo IDPA/USPSA match. The equipment rules have me shooting my Limited gun against Open guns.

I'm running a Para P16-40 LTD that is finally setup the way I want. I'm curious if I can stick a EFK bushing comp on the thing and maybe gain a little on the Open guns. I'm thinking of the 2-tone short comp for my stainless Para. I don't like the looks/length of the Wilson, and the EZ Equalizer looks cheesy to me.

I'm loading 180 grain Precision Deltas and Titegroup to 170 PF. A 12 Lb spring feels just about right.

I don't know what I expect, but the comp is cheap enough. I don't want to toss the money away for nothing, but if it works at all I'll get it for the mental boost....Maybe....Hell, I don't know...I'm pretty happy just to have another match to shoot my Limited gun and race rig with no restrictions.

I'd appreciate your thoughts.

the bushing comp isnt really going to help as most of the escaping gasses go out through the comp(im really not sure you can call that a comp) and do not get directed upwards.

if you really want to gain some ground, put a red dot sight on it...either a Jpoint or drill and tap and put a c-more. more expensive, but its really the only effective way.

To be perfectly honest, I would spend the money on ammo and practice more. You will get zero benefit from that type of comp, esp. with the load you are running. By shooting more and practicing it will give you more satisfaction when you beat the open guns with your limited gun. Believe me it can happen, and boy do you feel good when it does. We all have a pile of stuff we bought that we regret.......I would pass on that bushing comp....DougC

How much you wanna spend?

minor and practice.

a dot

fitted comped barrel.

different top end with comp and dot

new gun.

Yes it depends on course design, but in most cases, the "open advantage" is not that great anyway. I wouldn't go to the Open Nats shooting my limited gun and expect to be competitive, but ata local match it would only make about 3-5% difference.

(As a side note, I ran the numbers and at 04's "one gun" NATS TGO would've finished about 8th OVERALL had his Limited scores been run with the open guys.)

I appreciate the advice. I had thought this was what I was going to hear. I'll keep my $65.

I haven't shot but 1 of these oddball matches. Instead of finding those Open shooters and seeing what I was up against, I was saddled with a squad of newbies to ride herd on. I didn't really recognized any of the Open shooters names, so I'm not sure if they are really IDPAers retired from USPSA or what. Next match I'm going to make sure I'm squadded with them to see who I'm dealing with.

I don't normally have a confidence problem, but the thought "a Limited gun can't beat an Open gun" is an idea that's stuck with me for some reason. I can do it here and there, but as a B class Limited/L-10 shooter, the only Open shooters I regularly beat are C class or below. Time for a mental adjustment.

Could be my times were affected by shooting with the newbies. I could have fallen down and still smoked them all by 10 seconds or more. Kind of odd being the only gamer in a squad. It was funny in that they all shot the stages like it was an IDPA match, then I'd shoot and the rest of the shooters would copy me. The rules are pretty loose and open to a lot of interpretation at this time. The IDPA guys running the match just aren't too sure how to incorporate USPSA into the match.

By their reaction, I don't think any of them had ever seen a Para Limited gun with Dawson extensions, and they sure as hell had never seen a Guga Ribas holster. I thought I was going to have to beat them off with a stick. Felt like a freak.

Thanks again.
