Madmark
If you live in Wisconsin, now is the time contact your state senator and ask them to vote for the veto override. If you don't know who your state senator is, just go here and enter your address. I sent the following Email to Sen. Russ Decker, Democrat, who voted for SB 403: "Senator Decker, After much study involving the effects of concealed carry on violent crime, I ask you for your vote to override Governor Doyle's veto of the personal protection act. Wausau has seen it's violent crime rate increase over 300% from 1994 to 2005 (source: Wausau Daily Herald, Jan. 20 2006). Despite their best efforts, the police simply cannot control violent crime. And criminals prefer unarmed victims. The presence of a firearm in a law abiding citizens hand has proven to stop violent criminals in their tracks. And usually without a shot ever being fired. This concept seems difficult for Doyle to grasp. However, no state that has enacted a concealed carry law has had reason to repeal it. There is not one hard fact to support Doyle's claim that concealed carry will, or has, increase violent crime. Please continue to do your part to allow your constituents to protect themselves if necessary, and vote to override Doyle's senseless veto. Thank you" Lets hope for the veto override! mpolans
Nobody has pointed out that the Governor is also flat out wrong...administering the permit system is bound to create a job or two.
Chills1994
What's up with these governor's anyway? Somebody posted something about the magazine ban in NJ, here in the Hate forum. A few weeks ago our own IL Gov. Rod Blagovich was trying to pass his own Assault Weapons Ban to include .50 BMG rifles and at the same time give us a "chicken in every pot" speech. I really like what the Republican Treasurer Judy Barr Topinka had to say about that one. "He's living in his own reality." Of course, in reference to where the state was going to get all that moooo-lahhhh to pay for all those infrastructure improvements. But maybe, about the gun thing too. Are you sure that Wisconsin governor hasn't been hanging out with Chicago's former Mayor Daly, and the Gov. Blagovich? Chills
