Tore the plantar fascia in my right foot shooting a match back in June. Here we are in late November and it’s almost as painful as it was the day I did it. Anyone have any experience with this injury?

Not exactly.  I have had plantar faciiatis.  That part of the foot CAN be really painful and slow healing. Best bet is to find a good podiatrist and follow his/her advice.  Good luck.

My podiatrist is luckily a fellow shooter. Great guy but not a fan of me continuing to shoot every weekend! 😁 Mostly Steel Challenge these days, but it’s still a lot of walking.

Understand.  Last time I had problems was almost 2 years ago while receiving chemo and radiation ... Unrelated, just bad timing.  Was on crutches for several weeks going to my appointments.  Fortunately some of the pain killers they were giving me during the cancer treatment worked pretty well on the foot problem too!

I suspect your tear will take more time to heal than my inflammation problem did.  Stay off your foot as much as you can and hopefully it will heal faster.

Like Schutzenmeister I’ve just had the inflammation/shrinkage and not a tear but that was bad enough. Figured out it was caused by a crappy pair of shoes I was wearing occasionally. Took lots of stretching and a fair amount of time to relieve. Every once in a while it’ll start to flare up and I attack it with the stretching and exercises to stave it off. A tear is definitely going to take longer especially if you don’t take care of it.

I had it in both feet, compounded by loads of cures on net. Even went to physical therapy. The thing that helped the most was buying a brace that you wear at night that keeps your foot pointing straight up. When you sleep your feet relax and point forward, then when you get up in the morning the first thing you do when you stand up is stretch that facia. That’s when it hurt me the most. All kinds of controversy about shoes and cushioning. Some say zero drop, others get cushion shoes or inserts. I went with cushioning because it hurt so bad I could hardly walk. Go barefoot at home, that stretches facia naturally. Believe it or not Crocs helped the most. They are pretty zero drop and do provide good cushioning. I still wear them to this day. They look funky my wife calls them clown shoes. It will take a long time to heal, do stretching, get a ball and roll under facia. Loads of stretches and excersises on net, just don’t go for all the miracle cures. Good luck.

2X Was going to mention the Crocs and the foot brace too. At times I use a frozen water bottle and roll it underfoot. I also put the Sole arch supports in my boots.
