Skywalker
Hi guys and gals, I'll be attending the Florida open, and I'm planning my trip (6 days vacation to Orlando with family and match in between) to the East coast. I am faced with the opportunity to land in New York JFK, Atlanta International or Boston . Now I'd ask you: which one would be the most gun friendly airport to go through immigration? Any help appreciated, thanks.
BigDave
Out of those 3 I'd pick Atlanta - besides if you get into a time problem, you're only an 8 hour drive to the match.
Jon Merricks
+1 on Atlanta. But a Hell No to NY.
Patrick Sweeney
Your choices, in order, are: Atlanta Atlanta Atlanta Strike New York and Boston off of any list you might have, even emergency set-down with an engine out and one of the wings in flames. (OK, that's the Pilots call, but if he asks, tell him no.) People have been arrested for trying to transit New York with legal firearms. Boston is New York with a different accent. Tman33_99
Of those Avoid NY, and Boston at all costs. Atlanta should be alright. I don't think Miami would be a bad option.
Flexmoney
I hear good stuff from Atlanta on domestic flights. Lots of shooting in the Area. My girlfriend flew into there for Girl's shooting camp. Glock is near there. The Army AMU is near there. Etc. NY and Boston are/in gun-hater territory. BigDave
I hear good stuff from Atlanta on domestic flights. Fly through there a time or two yourself and then see what you think. Most people I work with avoid Atlanta for connections if at all possible. It has nothing to do with how friendly they are, but it is one of the, if not the busiest domestic airport and with their Flow Control?; schedules are more of a guideline than they are a certainty. That is my experience with flying through there about 6-8x in the last 6 months.
Flexmoney
I guess I should have said, "...with regards to gun handling". Flying-wise, BigDave makes a good point. (I've been in and out of Atlanta a few times. I don't recall ever flying through JFK. I think I have been through Boston once...decades ago.)
