Cuz
This could be a great thread to get ideas about where to go from here. After watching some friends play this game, I decided to grab one of my 10/22s and set it up so I could play too. I already had everything but the barrel on a spare Appleseed gun, so it was a cheap way to get started. I figure if I like doing this, it will become my backup/loaner gun and I can build my primary based on what all of you are using. Ruger 10/22 receiver. ⁃ Faxon 16.1” pencil barrel. ⁃ Trijicon SRO 5moa. ⁃ Outer Impact mounting plate. ⁃ Kidd single stage trigger. ⁃ Magpul MOE X-22 Stock ⁃ 3.88 lbs with muzzle break. I look forward to seeing what everyone else is using.
GKB
S&W M&P 15-22 Replaced almost everything except the lower receiver. Geissele 3GS trigger. The 15-22 takes almost anything an AR uses. Taccom3g Ultra light barrel (4.5" barrel with a sleeve welded on to get it to 16"). This isn't about making the rifle lighter but moving the center of gravity back. Taccom3g carbon fiber handguard. Magpul stock with a MBX "Fang" extension. This gets the stock way up higher while still keeping contact in the shoulder pocket. You have to wear earplugs, though, as the stock is high enough it will push muffs off your ear on the shooting side. Hogue AR pistol grip. Ambi aluminum charging handle (replacing the stock polymer one). It has a wider gripping surface for when you have to throw the charging handle in the middle of a string. Holosun 503G red dot using the circle-dot option. Volquartsen extractor. The S&W extractor is the primary point of failure on the M&P. (The polymer lips on the mags going bad are the 2nd most common point of failure.) Comes in at 3.78 lb. Edited September 3 by GKB
zzt
Full Custom. Tactical Innovations Elite22LC left charging receiver with Pike Arms Ambi-bolt. Kidd super slick recoil guide rod, Kidd springs, Kidd Bolt Buffer, Kidd Extractor. Kidd Single stage trigger. Briley Raptor 16.5" barrel. Kidd Aluminum Chassis. Magpul grip. Smoke composites one-piece buffer tube/stock. Smoke Composites castle nut. SRO 5 MOA dot on Picatinny adapter. Tandemkross Double Stack mags (not shown). When I built this gun, I originally went ultralight. Just a tad over 3 lbs. Too muzzle light and whippy. When I went to this configuration, I improved my Classification scores by over 7 seconds in three matches. It balances perfectly. 4.0 lbs. The Raptor barrel feeds everything- literally. All the ammo my original Wiland Ultralight barrel (match chamber) rejected. Kidd and Volquartsen extractors work equally well, and much better than the original. Nolan
As my wife calls her rifle, Blue Berry is a Ruger receiver, Tactical Solutions barrel, CST bolt, and last shot bolt Hold Open, Kidd single stage trigger, ancient PDP3 from back in the USPSA day, Boyds Evolution stock, I shortened it 4 inches, and painted it Candy Apple Blue. Mine is Grapejuice, Ruger receiver, Volquartsen Ultra Lite barrel, Alchin muzzle brake, CST bolt, Kidd single stage trigger, Alchin mount, C-More 8 MOA dot, Boyds Evolution stock painted Candy Apple Grape. The OJ rifle, Tactial Solutions X-Ring receiver, Volquartsen Ultra Lite barrel, Pace Setting muzzle brake, Kidd ss trigger, RTS2 6 MOA dot, Boyds Evolution stock painted Candy Apple Orange. The 15-22's, Volquartsen Ultra Lite barrels, SLR titanium muzzle brakes, Taccom carbon fiber handguards, Titan Rocket Magwells, NGZ bolt stop levers and charging handles, Jard adjustable triggers, KNS anti-rotation pins, C-More railways with 8 MOA dots. My wife didn't like the Serendipity dot, so I put on a Vortex Venom ??? MOA dot. She likes it and with the Venom it breaks the 2 lb barrier, 2 lbs, 15.4 oz. With the C-More, its 3 lbs, 1.2 oz.
