PaseMkr
Hello, I have a 1301 Tactical Mod 2 and needed some help. I run a weapon light with a tail-cap switch on my support-hand side and wanted to install a Briley Stage Saver forward of the ejection port. I didn't realize that the forend had two parts: the forend itself and the shorter piece directly in front of the receiver. I drilled my first hole in the longer piece without realizing the backside of the screw on the smaller piece of the forend protrudes too much and interferes with the action. Now I'm looking for recommendations to fix my error. Should I buy a new factory forend and mount the stage saver solely on the longer forend piece? I'm concerned if I do this that the stage saver will be too far forward of the ejection port to facilitate easy and fast loading. Ideally, I would like to mount the stage saver closer to the ejection port and at a slight angle, with the front lower. Option 2: Should I buy and aftermarket forend instead of a new factory replacement? Please recommend some good forends that will allow me to run my light and stage saver as described above. Last question for those of you with 1301s. Have you had issues with the barrel heating up and burning your support hand if you use a c grip while shooting? If so, does anyone have a heat shield installed, and who makes a good one? Thanks
