Patrick Sweeney
If you're thinking of shortening the buffer to gain some sort of advantage, don't. The buffer needs to bottom out in the tube. If you make it shorter, the carrier will simply cycle farther until it bottoms out again. Or, the carrier key will impact the rear ring of the lower receiver. (Can you imagine how I know this?) If you're lucky (I was) you'll shear off the carrier key screws. If you aren't, you'll peen or crack the receiver ring. Yes, a solid steel buffer weight weighs more than a standard one, but it doesn't help recoil or cycle better.
