2024 IRC - Who's Going??

Recommended Posts

You go where it is at and it looks like Pennsylvania here I come. I am also going to catch an America concert at Hershey PA an hour away and who said OZ never did give nothing to the Tin Man.

3 hrs. away for me.

Never shot an icore type match (although a few USPSA). Wondering if my 1st should be the IRC?

think uspsa shooting and movement rules, with IDPA scoring , and freestyle for the MD on setting up stages, can have boxes, target order and different number of shots per target on same stage.  You wont find many or any illegal stage discussions.. Your A zone down zero is about the same as IDPA.. but some stages will have X scoring.. inside that A zone is a 4" circle, hits there take a second off your score.  So game is more accuracy tilted.

I have practiced some of the stages at my home range.

I might ty to get there, dependent on how my old body can deal with it. My shoulders are so bad that I can hardly shoot SH  or WH anymore. Probably be lots of fun and I know some of the people who might be there from other matches.

My 1st Steel Challenge was at the Pa State Championship match a long time ago at a range near this match.

Getting old sucks and I sure ain't doing it gracefully!

sounds like you will fit right in at an ICORE match... We refer tot he Senior catagory as the whippersnappers. I mean ICORE matches attract Buzzards

  • 2 weeks later...

Glad to see the MD acquiesced to allowing 2 guns of any kind to be shot.

The shootoff looks to be fun (always wanted to see how I stood against you and James), though I wasn't willing to dive into the shark tank that is limited with only 1 gun, now I get to do both.

I'm going to need another vacation after this.  Shooting Dave's action steel match in all the divisions Fri/Sat/Sun helping setup for the running steel Monday then shooting Tues/Wed then the following 4 days at the IRC. x-/

Not to mention that a certain political event winding down at the same time adding to the excitement.

Our election is just getting warmed up by then. Unless you have some Canadian nonsense going on 😉

I’m happy two “full” entries can be run. Sadly I can’t take advantage this year.

think they changed squadding as well.. I just looked at practiscore, and leaves me wanting to squint ,,
I would have zero interest in shooting 12 + 1 stages in one day...  or shooting 8-8 then havign to hang out for 2 days ? .. Looks like a goat rodeo of a squadding situation.. Not sure I get the whys.. I mean its not like the first time a large match has been run,,

Although its sounding like on facebook they are making some changes as evidently I am not the only one that feels that way

The main match Sat/Sun is unchanged. Same format it always was.

Only squadding change is allowing folks to shoot Thur/Fri if they did not want to do all stages in one day on Friday.

A LOT of people asked for this to happen, so it is happening. We are trying to give the members the best experience possible, and have been taking all feedback into consideration.

Check out the Newsletter announcement for more info. All current members received one via email today. It's also posted on the ICORE Official FB page.

For those of us not on facebook, will there be a place to access the info discussed on Wednesday?

This question was sent to media@icore.org but no response was given.

Many thanks!

I will be taking notes during the discussion and will find a way to post that info and share it so that everyone knows the answers.

I'm not sure how you read it that way.  Nobody is going to not shoot the main match on Sat/Sun if they won't be available then or are working.

Reducing the round count is probably for the best.  400 rounds would have been a slog.  And in my case I'll probably do the Thurs/Fri for the 2nd gun and hang with my Cdn peeps.

As for stages Ontelaunee always does a great job with a mix of all steel (they have a falling steel match 2 weeks prior) IPSC style stages with the obligatory classifiers in between.

Having food on Sunday is also an improvement.  In 2019 most of us sat around Sunday waiting for the 16+ squad of Aussies to finish while having nothing but a few snacks and "borrowing" beverages off a certain shooting team.  There was awards and everyone took off to eat something before we all passed out.

Fall is beautiful in Pennsylvania

yeh thats the thing,, I cant be the only one .. I mean if you need a live stream, a facebook thread, mass email news letter to just figure out whats going on and what the timeslot options are things are over complicated..
Whats wrong with dividing match in half,, having AM and PM time slots and you pick the two you want to shoot that have squad openings ?  I mean I am looking at it from outside,, so maybe it all makes sense to everyone else.
