mwx40x40
Looked in the rule book and could not find anything. After the “make ready command,” competitor loads then places firearm on table and start getting mags out to place on table. Anything wrong with placing loaded gun on the table? Is there a quotable rule?
gng4life
What did the WSB say? Not that it matters a lot but just curious. Where was the table? Any further details would help. Edited April 12 by gng4life

Joe4d
dont see a quotable rule,, and SC doesnt have a catch all phase for unsafe gun handling.. While I imagine it would go over like a ton of bricks, I dont see what specific rule would apply. WHich brings us to.... If the general philosophy we expect RO's to follow is. "DOnt be a dick" We sorta gotta expect the shooters to "DOnt be a dumbass"

bigdawgbeav
As long as there are no other violations, this shouldn't be an issue. Yes, prior to Make Ready the shooter should have staged mags as long as they didn't have to go into the same compartment as the firearm. Personally I would have mentioned to the shooter (after the CoF) that it would be better to stage prior to loading the chamber. Reduces the risk of bad things happening. I actually did this myself this past weekend. After Make Ready I was loaded and at low-ready but there was a timer issue. So I put my RFPO down on my case, pointing downrange, to free my hands to fix the issue. After correcting the issue I picked up the pistol and got in position again. Now, had I AD'd when picking back up, then that's on me.
mwx40x40
Thanks BE’ers. I’ll just make a friendly suggestion that it may be better to do mags first and maintain control of the gun .
Farmer
That’s the way I do it at home. Mags and whatever is laid out first, gun is loaded and made ready last. Just makes more sense and things don’t get forgotten. If there’s a problem up range the shooter is asked to stand by keeping pointed down range. If it’s something time consuming then ULSC. Just my 2 cents. Edited April 17 by Farmer
