gunner40sw
So I will be getting my Holosun 507 COMP in a week and I will be throwing it on a STI edge. are there any problems or disadvantages with throwing it on a EGW adapter plate or is it better to cut the slide. shred
I did one like that. Works fine, doesn't look tactical-sexy at all.
CGoodwin
If you mean the rear sight adapter plate, you will find that the height over bore is even more exaggerated and the stability of the dot may suffer. It is a decent solution for short term use if you are deciding whether to take the plunge, but not a great long term option.

The rear sight notch is not the most stable surface to attach a plate and optic to. It may be subject to lever forces and more vibration than the optic directly attached to a milled slide. Runswithwood1
That's exactly my scenario, I was deciding if I wanted to dot my 2011 or not, thus far the 507 comp and 2011 mate together very well, mine is also on an egw adapter plate and holding up just fine thus far
Farmer
If it fits as tight as a Springfield rear sight it ain’t going anywhere!
