floater
How have you gotten someone to take the rains over? I've gotten people to be guest match directors and help put the match together, but how to push them over the edge? I'm at the point I would like someone to step up, I'm done, I would like to just be able to shoot matches for fun again.
Joe4d
Make an annoucement at the next match.. We need a new MD or this match will end in 3 matches, Anyone interested can help run the next 2. Then stick to it. Walk away. Not your problem. Someone else will step up OR the match ends. In reality, I think matches shoulda been done by committee with various people running the matches all year. If you end up with a case of oneguyitis, this is usually what happens.
Nathanb
What I did was prepared myself for the fact it might die. And it did. You have to set your foot down. I shoot more now because of it and I find enjoyment in it again but you also have to be comfortable losing a club for what it’s worth the club I ran matches at started up their own thing six months after I quit. They basically didn’t want good shooters to come in and show up the locals all the while taking shots at what I built.

That is what my club is doing. There's a bunch of more experienced ROs taking turns as MD, RM, Stats Officer.
shred
Start by getting members to Stage Direct-- just commit to putting only one stage on the ground with all available helpers. Way easier sell than "MD". After you have a good set of SDs then the MD's job is just being ringmaster in the circus and way easier to pass on.
Darqusoull13
Your job as a club president / match director is not to run matches. Your job is to train the next in charge. Show them everything you know, encourage their energy and creativity and above all, when you're done, know who is in charge next and have an idea of who they might pick. This is the way. delegate all the stuff to other people, and then all you need to do is sort of manage the communication and coordination, and it's pretty straightforward.
