ntxboi
I had a bilateral knee replacement in September and am slowly getting more and more mobile. As soon as I am able to take a knee and get down on the ground and get up again I plan on heading to the local USPSA match. It’s been about 10 years since I have been able to do that because of bad knees, but I am hopeful that in a few months I can get back out there. Don_B
Hope your knees heal up and it all works out. I feel your pain! I had left knee replacement 16 months ago and it did not work out so just had it re-done last month. This one seems much better so I have high hopes I will back at the matches again also. Good luck! ntxboi
I’m glad your new knee is working out this time. The recovery from these is definitely challenging. Hope you get out there shooting as well.
rifleman777
Congratulations on the new knees!! I had the right one done on 12-20, so I’m almost 2 months into it. Keep attacking the post surgery PT. My surgeon told me to be aggressive about the PT…..it really DOES make a difference. Best wishes on continued recovery and improved range of motion! kevin c
Everyone I’ve talked to about their knee replacements has said the same: the pain relief is great and why didn’t they do this sooner. About the loss of range of motion that some of them mentioned: I talked to some experienced physical therapists about this and they both said the same thing, that the replacement joints do have the same range of motion as the natural joint, but it takes working hard in PT, through the greater discomfort at the extreme ends of full flexion and extension, to get there. So, like the others posted, do the PT, and make sure your therapist is, first, aware that your goal is not just walking pain free, but sports participation; and, second, that he is a bit of a sadist who will help push you to the level you want. Good luck!

Funny, but this is true! Also, you can kneel again, my surgeon said that kneeling is up to you, it will involve some discomfort, read that pain), and you have to work up to it but it’s completely doable. At 2 months into it I can kneel on carpeted floors. Don’t give up keep going.
rifleman777
Also @ntxboi, you are going through at least twice what I’m working through, you had BOTH knees done. You WILL get through it man !!
CGoodwin
Wow! As a PT and a shooter, I feel "triggered!" The juice is absolutely worth the squeeze, keep up the good work.
