Vacuum forming kydex

Has anyone had any experience vacuum forming kydex using the 'bags' made of polyurethane?

Yeah its not fun. The foam press method is easier just get that firm black foam not the couch stuff from the craft store.

Thanks, I've been using the press method on kydex but have expanded over to leather and want the vacuum method to have a cleaner leather surface. No use buggering up a vac bag if I don' need to. Thanks again.

I've done it with just a vacuum plate and porous molds (unsealed MDF) for Kydex.  No bags, just drape the warm sheet over the mold and hit the vac.  Squishes down perfect if the mold is good.

Where are you getting your molds?

I make them on a CNC mill with a vacuum cleaner in one hand to keep the dust down.  A pro shop would use a CNC router.
