CzEnthusist Posted September 26, 2022 Share Posted September 26, 2022 My Slide had some rust on it and me being in a rush removed some of the coating off the slide with 000 steel wool and I would like to know how I can get to original or close to the factory finish. slavex Posted September 28, 2022 Share Posted September 28, 2022 man you must have worked that steel wool hard, the slides are Arcore (nitride) finish, and I've never seen someone remove it easily. It's possible yours was defective, which is what allowed it to rust, or it had exposure to something super nasty which caused it to rust and wrecked the Arcore treatment, the steel wool just made it worse. I'm sure there is someone local to you that can do it. Ship it off for Black Nitride or DLC but probably 4-6 week turnaround on that.
