Chills1994
I guess it used to be in the Alliant manuals up til 2014. Then they took it out, and it has been out ever since. Here is a link to the old Alliant manuals: https://www.castpics.net/LoadData/Freebies/RM/Alliant.html Sooo…I am just wondering if anybody here ever tried Red Dot to reload plain ol’ 9mm (minor)??? dannyd
On the load data site Red Dot is listed for 46 different 9mm loads.
ddc
Red Dot and Promo used to be quite common for 9mm loading. I tried Red Dot many moons ago but didn't stay with it. My recollection was it didn't meter all that great. I imagine most people have moved on to 320, Sport Pistol, Clean Shot, Tightgroup, and similar for 9mm minor. zzt
Red Dot is dirty for 9mm minor. Plus, it doesn't meter all that well for pistol. A much better choice is e3. It is superb for 9mm minor. Second choice would be Sport Pistol.

I googled “9mm reloads + Red Dot”, and surprise, surprise! Even here on BE people were having issues in 2014 looking for Red Dot 9mm data. I actually bought the Red Dot for shotgun reloading. I was wondering if I didn’t like it for a shotgun powder, then I could try it for 9mm. Chills1994
Nope. Just using Clays right now for the 12.

zombywoof
I had a bunch of it laying around once. I loaded it up with coated bullets. It works.

Red dot has always been a favorite of mine so I have a good bit of it. 3.0 grains with a BBI 147 at 1.10 oal gets me 130 pf out if an P320 X5. I also use it for 40 minor also at 3.0 grains with a BBI 180.

Sandbagger123
i am almost at the end of an 8# jug of red dot . i loaded a lot of 9mm from 124/135/147 coated and FMJ . i like that its a fluffy powder that is almost impossible to double charge in 9mm. only dislike is that it meters with a lot more variation than a ball powder. but even with the weight variation the velocity is pretty consistant if i can find another bottle i will grab it.
