I picked up a ck arms in 9mm major and an sti steel master in 9mm and I plan on sending them off for some work to make them carry guns I figure it will be a fun couple of projects. Have any of you done the same?

No.  This sounds like a horrible idea.

Every class related to concealed carry stresses the importance of utilizing preferably a stock pistol, and or one that is modified only in a way to improve the function & safety.  Race guns, open guns, guns with 2# triggers, etc. can get you into serious hot water with the legal system if you should need to pull the gun & use it.  This is not my opinion, just sharing what I have learned at classes through US Law Shield.

i agree with u about 1911 with old trigger system. but  2011 with new modernized trigger system can be safe with 1.5 lb trigger as a carry gun.

You realize it’s all the same parts minus the actual trigger right. A 1911 can have the same trigger pull weight and be as reliable. I wouldn’t have a pound and a half for a carry gun though.

have you been around fluids?

Yes. 😀 A few cups of coffee.

I am in a hot area and it is not possible to drink the mineral water that is called in your  island whiskey .

in my best john mcenroe voice, you cannot be serious.  i'd get a glock 43x for carry and not pay a lotta money to remove the features that make the ck and sti great at the various games.

I bought a Maserati but it wasn't working out for my young kids' car seats, and going to scout camping trips in the hills on unpaved roads.

So I had the interior redone to accommodate the space the kid seats take up, and had truck wheels and tires retrofitted to be more useful on trail roads.

The transmission needed regearing too to accommodate the road conditions and tire/wheels as well.

Wife still gets on me that I could have bought a used SUV for under $10K and still have the Maserati for fun.

If you see my guns, I do s#!t that some collectors consider blasphemy, like on 1911Addicts. But, even this is too far IMO. I had a Steel Master, and I would never transform it for carry. The point is, those were designed for a specific type of shooting. A carry pistol has different desirables.

I say go for it. Guns are blank canvases to me. A 2011 and 1911 can have a barrel from 3.3" to 6" depending on how much you want to spend. Trigger poundage is just bending and weighing a leaf spring. Its sometimes better to start with a certain package but a frame is a frame,,, I have a Bul open gun that is just waiting for USPSA to change CO rules to include 2011's,,, LOL!

If they got the Laugo  arms  alien  gun for  production div. then this miracle could happen too.😉
