Unibrain
Since a revolver is legal in Production would a revolver be legal to use in CO? My first pass at the rules says no because D7.13 says, "Optical/electronic sights REQUIRED; must be attached directly to slide between rear of slide and ejection port, and may not be mounted to the frame in any way" On the other hand a revolver doesn't meet all of the nuances of D4 but is allowed. Would a similar logic apply to D7 as well? I don't know why these things cross my mind. Maybe we need a new division (ducks from all the eggs being thrown)
MikeBurgess
Unfortunately no, From D7-13 Optical/electronic sights REQUIRED; must be attached directly to slide between rear of slide and ejection port, and may not be mounted to the frame in any way
MikeBurgess
Also, on the bright side the way CO shooters are progressing you will only get crushed by a couple percent more in Open than CO.

That was going to be my suggestion. In the overall standings there's not going to be a lot of difference between a revolver with a red dot versus an open gun and a revolver with a red dot versus a carry-op's gun. So might as well just shoot open and have fun
Fishbreath
Toward the end of this year, once my 9mm backup gun comes in, I'm going to work up a 160gr .38 Special +P load that hits Major for my .357—there's one in the book for N320. Then I'll pop a dot on it and play around in Open Major Revolver now and then. It clearly wouldn't hurt anyone or change any major match results to make CO 'slide-mounted pistol dots, or frame-mounted revolver dots', but as I understand, the issue has been raised with HQ in the past, and the answer was no. I think the thing is that the difference wouldn't really matter shooting it in open versus carry optics. And with the competitor app, you could "change" your division to whatever division you want. Unibrain
I know the losing difference between CO and Open isn’t going to be much different. You all came up with the same answer I did. I just thought it would be fun to troll the CO shooters directly.
Mcfoto
Come shoot it in Open ICORE. You’ll probably win…

dapribek
No, optic must be mounted on slide. Revolver has no slide. This came up recently at our club match and the shooter with the “CO revolver” was moved to Open.

Schutzenmeister
IIRC, DNROI ruled quite some time ago that no, revolvers cannot compete in CO. They do not have a slide to which the optic can be attached. Therefore, they cannot meet the requirement of the optic being mounted to the slide between the ejection port (another item a revolver does not have) and the rear of the gun.
