Open1215
Hello all, I finally got my hands on a factory threaded SP 01 barrel. It drops in and seems to hook up pretty well, the barrel sits almost exactly where the stock one does however I can't get the guide rod to go in. It will fit without the recoil spring but it's just a hair off with the Spring no matter how much I wiggle or try. Are there any good videos or older posts?out there about how to fit an SP 01 barrel? Thank you all!
usmc1977
Look for a video how to fit a CZ Czechmate barrel. I know there is a video out there somewhere when I fitted mine. I bet they are fitted very similarly.
Open1215
Thank you. I'll give that a try. I found one but it wasn't in English and I just gave up trying to watch it.
Open1215
I believe if I can buff a little off the ribs it should fit. I want. To measure everything before I remove any material but it seems the new one sits just a hair higher than the factory one.
ultimase
When I had to fit a normal non threaded barrel in my sp01 I just needed to take a little off the right side of the barrel in your picture to get it to sit against the breach face and that was it. I'd honestly be a bit hesitant in removing material off the lugs as I believe they can affect timing a bit. Someone that actually knows what they're talking about should be by shortly. Open1215
Agreed. I have read fitting cz barrels is more in the hood and the lugs are good. Just not something I'm 100% on. Definitely not wanting to remove any material until I'm positive. Planning on going REALLY slow and checking often. Thank you everyone!
je85
Do NOT remove material from the lugs!!! Fitting is done on the Back of the hood/chamber.

Open1215
Regular sp01 not a shadow. It is a steel guide rod. I haven't had a chance to measure the OD yet. Cz factory SP 01 threaded barrel. I'm not going to remove anything off the lugs. It just seems like the lugs are not sitting as deeply. I really didn't mess with it much last night. I dropped it in and once I hit a problem, I removed it and started looking for videos on how to fit. 4 day weekend this week planning on messing with it then. MuayThaiJJ
Get a marker, or lighter. 1. Mark up the chamber and hood area. 2. Put it back in the slide and try and push it up into battery. 3. Remove barrel and look for where the metal has exposed. 4. File those areas carefully. 5. Repeat steps 1-4 until the barrel goes into battery and sits nice and high in the slide. Then fully assembly and cycle some dummy rounds in a mag.
JBhunter45
Sometimes with the steel guide rods you need to compress the spring with your fingers back/forward to get the rod to drop in. Most likely the fitting is in the "nub" or sides of the breach face surface.
ringram
Often it will "look right", but its not sitting high enough up in the slide.. As above you carefully file the rear or the barrel around the chamber that butts up against the breachface.. there are video's on youtube. You can check this by comparing the depth of the factory working barrel against the depth of the new barrel from the top of the slide to the top of the barrel.
