MuayThaiJJ
Has anyone mounted a rear sight on a slide that has all the meat cut off the rear? I am wondering if someone has mounted a flat-style rear sight...looking for ideas or a specific example. thanks! N
yigal
It is necessary to design only a base to the shape of the slide surface and fit the entire adjustable top of an existing sight. or make it total different way.
ltdmstr
Maybe get a BoMar (Kensight copy) or similar and cut the dovetail off. Then bore a couple holes in the two sides for set screws.
zzt
I mounted a red dot on the scallop cut of a 1911 slide. It works only with dots that have a .550" space between the mounting screws. Drill and tap (bottom tap) the holes for the mounting screws, going for 85%+ threads. Drill holes for the locating pins and press them in. I first mounted a Burris FF3 using the mounting screws only. Their locating pin locations were too wide for the slide. Next I mounted a C-More RTS2 and used locating pins. Worked well. Held zero and never came loose. zzt
No. My scallop cut was way deeper. I'll try to post a pic tomorrow.
