njl
I'm curious what people have done for lighting outdoor evening/night matches where the range provides no lighting. i.e. Battery or generator powered flood lights up-range pointed down-range? Battery powered LED or chemical glow sticks worn by all attendees? We're thinking about giving this a try, and I'm curious what, if anything, has worked for others. shred
I've seen everything from car headlights to generator lights, to low-light with police strobes and/or mandatory flashlights, headlights and what not. It's difficult to keep competitive equity if you don't wait for completely dark, but the novelty of night matches makes up for some of that. If you don't have a lot of light, glow sticks or the long-thin around-the-neck-style ones work well to know where everyone is. Around here the usual limiting factor is neighbors get much more cranky with gunfire noise the later it gets.
Harpo
At the night match I shot in December, they had each competitor affix a pair of glowsticks to themselves, and about half the folks on the range had headlamps switched to red.
Bakerjd
A night USPSA type match would be super fun I think. I know one of the 3 gun clubs nearest does a night match. As does an IDPA club.
