Revolver with red dot

We had a slight disagreement at our last USPSA match. A shooter with a revolver and a red dot attached to with a dovetail mount signed up for Carry Optics and later was reassigned to Open Division. Was this the right call? Can you point out the rule in the rule book that would back up this call? Thanks.

5.1.3  defines sights. Then Apendix D 7 line 13 electric sight can NOT be attached to the frame in any way, then in the same apendix see special conditions has to meet CO requirements and be on the approved list. I also think that nroi came out with an interpetation that said no revos at all in CO.

D7 special conditions says any gun on the production list and Revos are. Technically the dots are mounted on the “frame” but how could they be otherwise if revos don’t have slides.

I’ve been through this with Troy. For CO, the dot has to be mounted to the slide. Revolvers don’t have one, so Open is correct. Sadly.

Open.  No recourse.  There is no such thing as a CO revolver.

When I shoot my 929 with red dot. I am in open.

 

Moving to open is correct.
