Sport Pistol with .45ACP?

I know there is data on Alliant’s website for using Sport Pistol in .45ACP.  But does anyone use it for 200 or 230 grain bullets? If so, how much of it to make major power factor in a 1911?

Being I already had SP on hand as my go-to 9mm powder, I got curious one day about SP under my Bayou .45 230gr RN.  It took 4.5gr of SP to make major pf.  Recoil was noticeably more than my go-to load of 3.6gr of Nitro100NF for the same bullet.

I used 4.7gr Sport Pistol for 170PF using 200gr coated.  Worked alright, but a bit snappy. 

Still prefer other powders for 45 Major, but can work in a pinch.

Some data points that ran in my brother's CMMG Banshee with a 5.5" barrel. Just function checking, no Chrono data.  Small pistol primers.

 

200g Hornady XTP

5.5gr Sport Pistol

1.24" OAL

Brass ejected about 4 feet

 

230g SNS round nose

5.0gr Sport Pistol

1.255" OAL

Brass ejected about 6-8 feet

I have tried and used 4.7 Grains, was snappy for sure. Talked with some others and got several recommendations for Clays will be testing that next.
