Help, Custom older S&W revolver, Identify the gunsmith?? Beautiful workmanship.

Just excellent workmanship, curious who built it??.... Started life as as 6 shot square butt long ago (Highway Patrol?).. Was converted to 8 shot and 9x23 caliber (38 Super shoots fine). (Came with Win. 9x23 brass and 165 PF loads). Was reportedly use in Bianchi Cup at one time?.  Custom barrel with porting (Even the port holes in the top of the barrel are angle taper ported, not straight bored).It had a picatinny style scope mount & rubber grips which I've replaced.  Still nice and tight and very accurate. Ron Powers says he didn't build it, any guess who did?.. Mike

Looks like something Charlie Priest made.  I think the barrel was from on of the guys from Casa Grande.  the scope mount looks like a Allchin.

Not many did the 8 shot conversion, I'm thinking Charlie was the only one.  So that would definitely limit the 'smiths.

 

Carmoney has one, or had one, I think.
