Haalck
Has anyone had any luck making their own (express) rust bluing solution such as peroxide vinegar and salt? If so what did you use and what ratios? Thanks
barry
Try Laurel mountain forge barrel brown from Brownells. Boil before carding off . Has degreaser in it so no need to work about fingerprints. Been using for years. Best rust blue I've found.
EarlKeese
I use Laurel Mountain as well. No point reinventing the wheel.
jbauman915
Laurel Mt works great on most applications I'd say. I had to try something new with a couple older shotguns that I needed to rust blue because of the metallurgy of the guns. They just wouldn't rust blue at all. I found that dicropan IM worked wonders on steel with high chrome or other alloys in it. Edited September 26, 2021 by jbauman915
