Reloader98
Well sorry I haven’t responded in a a week, but this all makes a lot more sense, I think superdude is right though, pistol accuracy, for practical shooting, I don’t think I need ultra precise seating depth, and after measuring the bullets themselves, there are about .001-.004 variation in bullet length, so that’s probably the cause. thank you everyone for all you replies. Bakerjd
Don't worry mate. I was worried about a .002-.006" difference in OAL and got the same basic answer. It doesn't matter really. Bullet OAL is sometimes different and that's what I think causes it.
regor
I had the same issue with some Everglades bullets I was using and an RCBS seating die. I tried a Hornady seater and it was better but didn't fix the issue. I ended up doing something very similar to what SeattleDude suggested and drilled out the center of the seating stem until the tip of an inserted bullet was free floating and then polished the inside circumference of the seater with one of those ball sander bits for a dremel to ensure even contact. That fixed the issue.
