Bunnies4r5
Hey guys I shoot uspsa with my g19 using g17 mags with +6 tti baseplates. Today they took a little sand during reload and I am wanting to clean them. They don't have an insert of any kind so the spring goes straight down into the baseplate. Is there any secret to taking the base plates off without damaging the springs or can the springs just handle it?Thanks in advance guys
Edwards30
I just yank them off. I have yet to bend a spring.
rooster
Push the pin so it will let the base plate slide off. It will not hurt the spring at all. If you are never going back to the oem base plates you can take a razor blade and cut the little nibs off. That will make it easier to remove. Malarky112
Springs can handle it, no way of getting around having to torque them a but to get that basepad off. On my CZ's I clean them everytime they hit the dirt and haven't hurt a spring yet
rpm8300
Try the Taylor Freelance - way easier to field strip/clean during a match - just need a hex wrench.
