71Commander
Anybody use a Romeo5 type dot 45 degrees instead of RMR type dot? Pro's or con's?
ecn515
Not an open shooter myself, but I have seen many doing exactly what your asking about. Lots of romeo 5's, vortex crossfires, and even a few MRO's floating around on 45° mounts. They all seemed to use them just fine.
Harpo
About the only con I can think of is that they're a bit "chunky" compared to the little reflex-style dots. Other than that, I'd think it should be fine.
DocMedic
I used a Aimpoint T2 on a offset warne mount for a few years and actually liked it better then a MRDS. But I went with a MRDS just due to how often you would use it and a t2 weighs more.
Mag56
I have had the opportunity to use both. Honestly, the RMR is more practical to use. Pros: - Overall size - Weight - More practical on the height overall axis (you don't have to change your cheek placement) - More practical bc of small size (will not get cut on gear, straps, etc) - Glass clarity and quality - Battle proved Cons: - More expensive (but you get what you pay for) Don't get me wrong, the Romeo 5 optics and Sig products are outstanding too, but I will use the Romeo5 for a different purpose (NO 45 degrees)
Randomprojectile78
I shot a neighbors after he switched from a RMR to a PA red dot (don't recall which, T1 form factor). Bottom line, he went back to the RMR as it was a sleeker vibe overall. It was purely subjective, but the RMR "seemed" sleeker, faster, and less chunky. I doubt it actually was, but we both commented on the phycological sensation.
71Commander
Ended up with a Romeo 1. For some reason the transition seems smoother.
