konkapot
Open gun. 38SC. Finding what appear to be brass shavings around the guiderod head. Moly bullets. Cause?
MikeBurgess
Take a look at your primers on spent brass, you may find that the cup is extruding into the firing pin hole and being shaved off when the barrel drops down out of battery. Its super easy to see on silver primers, you will see a small brass ring around the firing pin dent. I have also see this when the primers are pierced, basically the spot the pin hits blows out and leaves you with tiny brass disks floating around your action. If the brass is coming from the primers it is very likely your ammo is over pressure.
konkapot
That makes sense. Perfect sense, actually. Thanks
Nolan
New brass will do the same thing. Nolan
konkapot
Hmmmm. I have been shooting a fair amount of new brass. IF it only does it with new brass, do you think it's still an indicator of overpressured ammo?
