Squirrel45
Is there a tick to get the slide bar on a SDB and 550C not to stick with Accurate powders 5/7/9? It measures really well but noticeable resistance on the return stroke. thanks Squirrel
AHI
Yes . could leave it at that search is your friend. old style return spring. smother more consistent return of powder bar. tape to take up space ( so it does not leak) Dillon use to have thicker spacers to stop the leak. Therefore preventing the leak that causes the sticking. just a few. Edited March 9, 2021 by AHI
Nolan
Ralph Arrendondo makes a polymer powder bar just for this problem https://www.arredondoaccessories.com/product/powder-drop-slide/ Another solution is low friction Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene tape, as suggested in the previous post. It is available in various thicknesses and widths. https://www.mcmaster.com/plastic-tape/low-friction-uhmw-tape-8/ Nolan
Squirrel45
Do you guys think that going w the thin tape is best? Thanks for the advice! Squirrel
Dwbsig
Take a filler gage and check how much space you have and get the tape to match what you need.
Squirrel45
I have tried the tape method (2 pieces of scotch) while it seems to work better then no shimming at all it still binds after 100 rounds or so. What have been peoples success rate with that polymer bar? Is it worth it ? Is it hard to fit? thanks! Squirrel
Squirrel45
Also wanted to mention that I have no powder leaking at the all. Heck I think Id take the spillage over the binding.

Squirrel45
Yes I have, it compresses the spring half way. It is the older version but I don't think that matters.
AHI
Older version with 2 return springs?
RaylanGivens
Be careful if you run the Arredondo powder bar with the dual springs... I tried it and the springs pulled up on the bar and made it bind up.
Squirrel45
Currently it has an older powder measure converted from spring return to a gen 1 fail safe rod on it. Okay here is another idea I have what if I bought a new measure all together? Are the new ones tighter then this one made in the early 90's? AHI
The older PM were built to tighter tolerances. As a general rule operate smother. More consistent drop to drop. The newer PM are the ones that leak and bind. I am not Shure what your problem is(cause).Your PM could just be worn out. Buy a new PM give it a try. Just thought of something their is a spot on the PM that you need to grease from time to time. At the end of this video.
