So i was all set to run a 10/22 this year for steel challenge.....got a new chassis, new barrel a bunch of little control upgrades....all set to go!! Weelllllll.....maybe not.....I got this 15/22 the other week, put our ULW barrel on it, a silly light trigger, modified one of our extreme ULW hand guards. Still need to get the Butt Stock finished up and put on an optic.....but HOLY BALLS......3 pounds flat!!!

SO we've been working on a new nut for the 15/22 to use our Extreme HG. The barrel is available now, we recommend 'sharpening' the factory extractor or getting the Volquartsen. The factory extractor will sorta work as is.....only functional as the pivot point when the gun is firing, but will not take an unfired round out of the chamber. It's just not sharp enough and we will NOT cut the extractor groove as close to the chamber as S&W does.....that's just crazy what they do!!

I've not compared the weight between the two HG's.....but I am sure they are within an ounce of each other.

TRUBL... you are probably way ahead of me... I have a couple of friends using the polymer 15/22 as basis of a Steel Challenge rifle... one with a lot of rounds through it has noticed that carbon will build up in the grooves the bolt rail fits into, and slowly compress the rails until the bolt fails to go completely into battery... very difficult to see as it is black on black color....have you ever run into similar problems?... I have suggested he use something like Mercury Outboard Quicksilver 2 cycle racing oil as a lubricant as it dissipates carbon... query your comments... regards Les L747
