StealthyBlagga
I need to reduce the amount of smoke my handgun emits so it works better in night matches with a weapon mounted light. Any suggested loads?
jubi351
Current load? TMJ or hollow point is best. Stay away from coated if trying to reduce smoke.
StealthyBlagga
I've tried TMJ plated (Berry's double thick) and Blue Bullet reloads using WSF (which I have a lot of). I also tried various factory open-base FMJ loads (Winchester, Remington and Fiocchi). Edited December 13, 2020 by StealthyBlagga
Farmer
Faster/different powder. Have you tried any of the VV powders?
jubi351
For indoor Glock matches I use Hornady HAP with AA2 or Titegroup and have little to no smoke.

In my experience SP produces more smoke then my previous powder (Clays). Which is interesting since it is supposedly formulated for use with coated heads. I have found that while WSF is a great 9mm powder...it is a bit like dinner at the Golden Corral..and produces lots of gas. In my compensated guns the smoke is less noticeable but indoor shooting is still nicer with VV320 or VV330 Edited January 1, 2021 by Service Desk Spelling
Aircooled6racer
Hello: Use JHP bullets and powders on the quicker side. Tite Group, Clean Shot have worked well for me. Thanks, Eric
Darrell
Jacketed bullets and powders like Accurate #2, N320, Sport Pistol, and WSF is your best shot at reducing smoke and flash.
d3ydx3
Very little smoke from N320. I've used plated, coated, and FMJ bullets with it. Can't recall a time where I remember seeing smoke.

ampleworks
TMJ or JHP bullet so you have an enclosed base a N330, it's literally made for 9mm.
