I just bought a ruger precision 22lr rifle, which 22ammo will give me the best groups

Every rimfire is different. Buy a box of all the most expensive ammo you can find. When you find the one your gun likes, buy cases of ammo from the same lot number. When it runs out start over with testing.

Stick with standard velocity of some flavor. Inside of 300 yards, a lot of people have good luck with regular old CCI standard velocity. Further than that, the higher end rimfire ammo like Lapua and Eley tend to shine.

 

Tough time for ammo testing, but see if you can buy a few different boxes and test.

If you can find it, try SK Rifle in the yellow box. My buddy is using it in his Ruger Precision with very good results. It’s only $50/brick.

Only your particular rifle can answer that as every rimfire is a world unto itself.  Buy a box of every decent ammo you can fine and see what it likes.  Probably avoid the stuff that's packed in milk cartons and plastic pails but some rimfires prefer even those.

An update for anyone who reads this.  I got to spend some time shoot my rifle this past weekend.  Shoot Remington golden bullet.  I was shoot golf balls at a hundred yards with ease.,

SteelCityShooter said it best,  your particular rifle will tell you.  I take over a dozen different brands of ammo to the range with a new 22 gun to test.  That being said, my particular RPR 22 prefers CCI Green Tag first, CCI Blazers second with CCI Stingers a very close third.
