WCP320 Slide and sight option for IDPA and USPSA?

I'm just starting to get into competition shooting and recently picked up a full size WCP-320.

I love the feel of the gun and the way it shoots, however I'm not in love with the sights that came with it.

I'm considering swapping to Dawson Precision fixed fiber optic front and rear, I really like the small precise dots as opposed to the larger dots on the TruGlo, However indoors the light levels are pretty low.  Are there any combination sights that also do tritium with the small dots that I should consider?

Next question.  I'd like to have a second slide that is configured for carry optics so that I can swap back and forth.  Wilson Combat does not sell extra slides, though they say they are "coming in the future".  I've been looking and there are so many different options for slides that it's hard to decide which is best.  Anyone have any thoughts or opinions here?

Thanks!

Scott

Most competitors use a black rear and a fiber optic front. Usually with both serrated. Dawson is a well known performer in the sight market and is a good choice.

There is no one sight fits all lighting conditions answer. Sorry. There will always be some sort of compromise. As the majority of competitions are outside, during day light hours, people run what I mentioned above.

Rowdy has a lot of experience and gives good well reasoned advice.

I also prefer plain black and a small fiber front. I don't like the front to be too bright so I often dull it with a bit of permanent black marker. If it's too bright I get sloppy and overconfident in the alignment.

I would steer you away from a fiber optic rear sight too. There's not much need to have your attention drawn to the back of the gun. If you're having a hard time finding the rear sight then there's probably more benefit to be gained from practicing your draw.

Lining up 3 dots is a very gross sight alignment. The same level can be accomplished with the aforementioned sights. 3 dot sights to me are deficient for other reasons as well.

What is the main intended usage of the pistol? That will determine the best sights.

Primary usage, indoor shooting, and indoor "lite" competition nights, then some IDPA and/or USPSA competition, potentially 3 gun.  (I'm just getting into this so not really sure).

I've tried the TRUglow sights, and they have really large dots that I find annoying at best.

Hello: I prefer the fiber front sight and plan rear sight. Outdoors I like using a green fiber, but indoor matches I like a red fiber works better for me. I see the red better indoors because of the lights. Outside the green just pops for me. If you can wait a couple of months I think you will find more slide options coming up. Thanks, Eric

Listen to rowdyb, he gave you the right answer.  😉

If you want to know what that sight picture looks like?  Pick up an P320 X5 Legion and check the sight picture. 🙂

The Dawson fiber glows like a powered "DOT" in sunlight, it's amazing.
