Reaming Firing Pin Hole in 9mm PCC Bolt - What Diameter?

Do any of you ream the firing pin hole in the end of a 9mm blowback bolt?

 

What diameter reamer or drill bit do you use?

Do you mean ream it to make it bigger or just to clean it? To clean mine, rarely, I just use a wooden toothpick and rotate it around. I wouldn't make it bigger IMO.

Why did you want to ream it? If you want more clearance why not just chuck the firing pin in your drill and wet some fine grit sand paper with a little oil and polish it down a little.

always work on the cheapest part to replace, so good call!

Why on earth would you want or need to do something like that? If it's out of spec toss it and get a quality part.

It seems to be filling up with carbon...  Just wanting to clean it out... 

 

Not enlarge the hole.

I've had that problem with them before. My fix was polishing the firing pin a bit to get it slicker(and lose a few thou off the diameter.)

If I was going to do that I would get a numbered drill bit set, find the one that is the correct diameter and just push it in by hand.

Definitely wouldn't ream anything. When you say filling up with carbon, can you show an image? I just shot 2000 rounds between cleanings and I didn't have any appreciable buildup that I'd consider reaming. 

For what it's worth, Mobil 1 5W-20 keeps stuff from building up and you can keep adding it to remove excess until it's really time to clean.
