mscott
Has anyone ever seen this extra hole in an STI frame or have any idea what it may be for? It is a nicely cut hole and not threaded. It’s on a gun I purchased used. I asked the previous owner but No response.
rishii
Maybe a 22 conversion my ATI 1911 22’s have a similar hole, although it’s more inline with the slide stop
troupe
Not trying to side track your post on the hole in the frame, but it appears your grip might be cracked according to your pic. Just mentioning it.
mscott
The grip is cracked on the right side but no worries about that. Will likely be a stainless one soon. Good eye.
NateTheSkate
Any sort of pin or anything through that hole would run afoul of the barrel feet......I'm stumped, but now i'm curious.
Jim Watson
Briley Linkless had a short slide stop that required a new hole, but I think the inside had to be cut out for the cam and track. No clue.
Benevolence
I guess the max load is on the other side of the slide stop hole but that sure doesn’t look good from a stress perspective. As long as your barrel is fit properly and hitting the VIS... Probably a 22 conversion as others are saying.
Nolan
I don't know if that may have been done to convert GSG 1911 top ends to standard 1911/2011 frames, but this is a photo from CWA Accessories of their conversion kit which is sort of based on the GSG 1911. I have one of the CWA conversions and it used the standard slide stop and slide stop hole. Nolan
